Things to do in Bethany Beach

Southern Delaware is a wonderful place to visit. Here you can enjoy beautiful ocean sunrises and gorgeous bay view sunsets. When most coastal towns are summer seasonal, we are alive with activities during every season of the year.

Eastern shore beaches are a treasure all year long. Whether you are sunning yourself, reading a book or going for a nice long walk, our beaches are beautiful throughout every season. Delaware also has a Beer & Wine Trail. Just download the app “Delaware on Tap” and discover a whole new side of The First State. Delaware may be the second smallest state, but we’ve got a lot going on. Enjoy one of our 17 State Parks, or a town festival, Restaurant Week, live music, Farmer’s Markets or a live performance at one of our many theaters. Delaware has the best of everything and something for everyone.

Salisbury House is conveniently located just 2 miles from quaint Bethany Beach and 20 miles south of Historic Lewes or 15 miles north of Ocean City, Maryland. Beautiful Assateague Island National Park, where the wild ponies roam, lies just 25 miles south. A quick 18-mile ride southwest you’ll find Berlin, Maryland, Main Street USA, voted one of “The Best Small Towns in America.”

There is so much packed into this corner of Delmarva’s Eastern Shore.  Come visit, any season, and discover Delaware for yourself.

Our small town of Bethany Beach has a very unique historical landmark. It’s a must see …. the famous totem pole of “Chief Little Owl.”

It’s a 24 foot statue standing on the corner of Coastal Highway – Route 1, and Garfield Avenue – Route 26. The totem pole has stood there since 1976 and originally created by Peter Wolf Toth, a Hungarian born American sculptor.

The sculpture, #22, was donated to Bethany Beach as part of the “Trail of the Whispering Giants.” There are more than 50 wooden sculptures of famous Indians/Native Americans, designed and donated to at least every state in the US and some in Canada, too. Sculpture #21, “Maryland’s Inlet Indian,” is located in Ocean City, Maryland, just 15 miles from Bethany.
