Bed & Breakfast Policies

Important information to ensure a wonderful stay:

  • Room Rates – Rates are for one to two guests per room. A full gourmet vegan breakfast and wine and “cheese” reception is included in the room rate.
  • Advanced Reservations – Advanced reservations are strongly recommended so that you are able to visit us on your preferred date and stay in your preferred guest room.
  • Check-in/Check-out Times – Standard check-in is between 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. however we have staff on premise throughout the day, early check-in may be requested. The standard check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Unless you have reserved a Theme Weekend, then the check-out time is noon.
  • Breakfast – We serve a fixed 2 or 3-course gourmet vegan breakfast every morning at 9:30 a.m., although we can adjust times if needed. A coffee bar with “breakfast appetizers” is open at 7 a.m. We are happy to prepare our delicious breakfast for those not staying at our inn. We require advance notice and charge $25 per breakfast guest.
  • Quiet Hours – For the enjoyment of all guests, we hold quiet hours between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. This policy does not restrict the use of televisions, stereos, etc. during these hours but does require that guests keep the volume at a level that other guests will not be disturbed.
  • Damage to Property – Guests are responsible for all damage to property that is deemed outside of normal wear and use. While it is understood that occasional accidents do happen, it is the responsibility of our guests to use items in a manner that is consistent with the proper use and handling of such items.
  • Room Deposit – In order to reserve a room, we require a 50% deposit.
  • Forms of Payment – We accept cash, Mastercard, Visa, and Discover.
  • Cancellation Policy – We understand that sometimes your plans change or emergencies arise. As a small property, cancellations and “no shows” affect us greatly. For this reason, we prefer as much notice as possible if you must cancel. Single Room Rooms canceled more than 14 days of a guest’s scheduled arrival will receive a complete refund. If the room is canceled less than 14 days, the full price of the room will be charged to a guest’s credit card.2 – 3 Rooms canceled more than 28 days of a guest’s scheduled arrival will receive a complete refund. If the room is canceled less than 28 days, the full price of the room will be charged to a guest’s credit card.
  • Parking – We provide private off-street parking for all guests.
  • Diversity – We welcome visitors of all races, creeds, colors, ages, gender, religions, ethnic heritage, and sexual orientation.
  • Adult Beverage Requirements – State law requires that any guest served an adult beverage must be 21 years of age or older. Proper ID is required.
  • Room Reservation Age Requirement – Our Bed & Breakfast is a 21 years old or older property. Under 21 is not permitted.
  • Room Capacity – Each room is allowed two guests at the standard room rate.
  • Minimum Stay Requirements – There is generally a two night minimum stay requirement for Friday and Saturday night stays, the following holidays/events – New Year’s day, Valentine’s day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas day through New Year’s Eve and for some special events. Please call if you have any questions.
  • Outside Visitors – With the staff’s permission, up to four outside visitors are welcome to join guests on the property between the hours of 12:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Appropriate behavior is required and visitors must be accompanied by their hosts at all times. All visitors must be 21 years or older.
  • Variable Rates – Like all hotels and some Bed & Breakfasts, we adjust our rates daily to reflect the demand for rooms. Peak rates are generally during the summer, holidays and special event weekends.
  • Food Allergies/Dietary Restrictions – We have worked diligently to develop a set of menus that can accommodate guests with most food allergies and/or dietary restrictions. Please inquire with us about what accommodations we can make. We always attempt to meet reasonable requests.
  • Guests with Mobility Issues – All of our guest rooms are on the first floor of the property. There are four steps into the house, these conditions may make the property inaccessible to some guests with moderate to severe mobility issues. The antique doors to the bedrooms and bathrooms are 27 inches wide, this may be too narrow for wheelchairs. We apologize if this creates a limitation for any prospective guest.
  • Unusual Requests – We constantly strive to meet our guest’s needs. If there’s something you need or want that we don’t offer, please let us know. We will always attempt to meet any reasonable request.
  • Smoking/Vaping – For the health, comfort, and safety of our family and guests, we are a completely smoke-free property. Should a guest violate this policy, we will charge a $300 cleaning fee to their bill.
  • Incense/Candle Burning – We do not allow the burning of incense or candles on the property.
  • Children – We cater primarily to couples and individuals on retreats who are looking for a respite from the hectic pace of today’s world. The property is not suitable for children. There are many antiques, a pool, and three dogs on the property, which may cause stress to the children, guests, and dogs. We apologize if this creates a limitation for any prospective guest.
  • Pets – There are three mid-sized dogs currently residing at the Bed & Breakfast. For the comfort and safety of our guests and fur babies, we do not allow any other pets on the property.
  • Emergency Systems – The property is protected by smoke detectors and in-room carbon monoxide detectors. We also have fire extinguishers visibly accessible throughout the property.
  • Privacy – The physical, personal and financial privacy of our guests is taken very seriously. We do not share any personal information or mailing lists with any other party or business entity. In addition, we have private locks in each room.
  • Cleanliness – We thoroughly clean each room after each visitor. The bathroom is sanitized and we carefully wash all bed linens, robes, and towels. All duvets, comforters, and blankets are washed regularly.
  • Excessive Cleaning Fee – Any room that requires excessive cleaning upon guest departure is subject to a $250+ excessive cleaning fee. Our expectation is that guests will treat the property in a manner that is consistent with full respect for the property.
  • Any damages, stolen items, or broken items occurring during the stay will be the full financial responsibility of the Guest. This includes the responsibility of everyone in the Guest Party. Any special clean-up resulting in damages caused by the Guest will be charged to the credit card provided at the time of making the reservation. Charges may need to be applied after the departure of the Guest as deemed necessary by the homeowners.
  • Environmental Policy – The Salisbury House at Bethany Beach is committed to protecting the environment, the health and safety of our family, guests, and the community in which we conduct our business. It is our policy to seek improvements throughout our business operations to lessen our impact on the local and global environment by conserving energy, water, and other natural resources; reducing waste generation; recycling and purchasing recycled products; and reducing our use of toxic materials. We believe that as a business we have a responsibility not only to minimize our impact but also to make environmental policy a key and integral part of our business strategy
  • Legal Notice – This is our home and we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. We are not responsible for accidents or injury, damages to personal property or vehicles, or for the loss of money or valuables of any kind.
  • Forgotten Items – Items left behind at the Bed & Breakfast can be sent to you via mail at your request. The cost of shipping will be billed to your credit card.
